Bethesda Softworks has done it again. Rage, the post-apocalyptic shooter, to be released sometime in 2011 is looks AMAZING! For those who saw E3 today, the Rage demo practically captured the show. Rage will be released 2011 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Within the first 10 seconds of the playable demo, someone's head was chopped off with a throwable boomarang-type knife. That certainly caught our attention.
Rage, made by the same company that helped brought you Fallout 3, features some similar elements. Bethesda's newest project has huge "hand-crafted" environments with no loading screens, which is always appreciated. The visuals were beautiful and the frame-rate impressive. Rage reminds us of Fallout 3 meets Borderlands. With tons of weapons available from rocket launchers to ak's and different ammo types for each weapon, Rage is looking more exciting than ever.
Like Borderlands, Rage has vehicles available to travel the vast landscape and numerous enemy types throughout the map. Bandit camps and mutants roam the environments all with particular battle styles from acrobatic to utilizing robotics. During the demo, the player raided a bandit hideout and was ambushed by deformed sword wielding badguys. They were easily taken care of with a load of arsenals including an RC car loaded with C4.
Rage takes a different approach to dieing in game with the defibrillator and Nanotrite elements. If your character dies, rather than starting over at a checkpoint, your character can use the defibrillator and revive in real time while having to fight your way through the enemies upon revival.
The developers of Rage pride themselves in the "open yet directed" gameplay. According to producers how you play is up to you. Meaning you can tackle the main story plot or decide to focus on side missions instead. And yes Rage will have MULTIPLAYER capabilities but no information is available.
Gaming Precision will keep reporting on any news related to Rage.
